Functional Features Homeowners are Requesting Most

Shenandoah Valley homeowners understand that a well-designed kitchen is an organized kitchen. The KBB survey found that a median of 60% of homeowners are requesting more storage and organizational options for their new kitchens and baths. The most frequently requested kitchen storage and organizing tool is a built-in trash recycling option, requested by 99% of homeowners.

The other most popular kitchen storage/organizational tools are:

  • Under cabinet/in-cabinet lighting
  • Pullouts/blind corners/lifts
  • Stand-alone pantry
  • Drawer inserts/dividers
  • Wine/beverage storage
  • In-cabinet outlets and USB ports
  • Appliance garage

Other popular storage solutions favored by homeowners include knife block drawers, drawer peg systems, cleaning product and paper towel storage, composting stations, spice racks, double islands, hidden pantry drawers, pet-feeding stations, blind-corner pull outs, and toe-kick drawers.

Demand for organizational tools, solutions, and systems among homeowners have dramatically increased in response to the changing multifunctional role. Kitchens are now called upon to perform as offices, zoom backgrounds, classrooms, libraries, cafés, and dining rooms. Homeowners are cooking more as well, highlighting the need and desire for a clean, well-organized space. We met with Doug and Brook on Friday morning to look at the rendering for our kitchen update. To say I'm excited is an understatement!! I sell Pampered Chef and do a lot of cooking videos from my kitchen, and they took that into consideration and designed my kitchen to make that even easier for me and put all my items that I might need right at my finger tips. Classic Kitchen and Bath came highly recommended by a friend, and they were just what I was looking for! When I first began thinking about a kitchen remodel, I thought I was going to have to DIY with an IKEA kitchen or wait for the next big Lowes sale, but Classic's estimate was SO affordable and Leslie was beyond wonderful to work with through the design and planning process. Being able to visit the showroom and put my hands on samples made me feel so comfortable about making decisions; their offerings are all so beautiful. My kitchen had some odd spaces that I was afraid would be unusable, yet Leslie was able to come up with such smart and efficient ways to use up as much space as possible (who knew I needed a cabinet for sheet pans!). Even in the middle of a pandemic, delivery and installation were a breeze, and my installer did not leave until he knew everything was prefect and to my liking. We loved working with Classic and their team so much that we are currently using them again for a remodel project in WV! I cannot speak highly enough, 10/10!

We have used Cathy at CK&B twice and got superb outcomes in both remodeling adventures. The most recent was a master bath. We converted and useless corners garden tub into a large walk in shower with aging in place upgrades. The old shower became a nice closet. Design A+. Materials A+. Scheduling B. Like any complex project, scheduling is art and science. Our project took 5 months, working around injured subs, available crews, and deer season. We are still delighted and give CK&B and Cathy the designer, a strong recommendation.

I have known about Classic Kitchen and Bath since we moved to Harrisonburg in 2004. They replaced a countertop for us when we first moved into our home. Since our home is 60 years old, it has needed quite a few updates over the years and we have used Classic Kitchen and Bath for all of our bathroom and kitchen udpates. The owner, Jill, is very professional and also cares a lot about our community. Jill shows this through her generosity and support of many local nonprofits. I have worked with Gabby in design and she is phenomenal. Her warm and friendly personality is why I enjoy working with her. She is very knowledgeable and professional and is able to apply her knowledge in a way that is not overbearing and incorporates my transitional taste into her plans. When looking for items in their beautiful show room, I have spent time with all of the staff at one time or another and find them all to be friendly and helpful. They seem to be a good team. If you are looking for a well run, local company, with a staff that truly cares about the quality of the product and. your experience, you should choose Classic Kitchen and Bath. I will definitely work with them in the future and will continue to recommend them to friends and family.

My husband and I began our kitchen remodel in January of 2019 with a visit to Classic Kitchen & Bath. There we were introduced to Leslie who became our consummate cheerleader and trouble shooter over the next few months. The design process and the many decisions to make (cabinetry; tile; hardware; lighting; appliances; and countertops) were daunting but Leslie helped us through each step with encouragement and advice. I bought a new home a few months ago, one of the cabinet hinges broke and after calling the cabinet company they informed me that all of my cabinets came from Classic Kithen and Bath, as they are the only business in the area that sells these cabinets.
